An ‘iCarly’ movie is coming, Miranda Cosgrove confirms

Miranda Cosgrove is going back where it all began.

The one-time Nickelodeon star revealed in a new interview on “The Drew Barrymore Show” that an “iCarly” movie is in the works for 2026.

“I’m excited, we’re going to film a movie early next year,” Cosgrove told Barrymore. “I’m so excited.”

The actress, 32, was 14 years old when she first began starring on the show, which followed the life of Carly, a teenage webcast star who lived with her eccentric older brother, Spencer, in Seattle. The program, which became wildly popular and is now Cosgove’s defining project, aired for five seasons on Nickelodeon.

After wrapping its original run in November 2012, the show returned amid the reboot fever of the 2020s for another crack at the sitcom in 2021 . The new “iCarly” show followed the original band of characters as they navigated their 20s.

Jerry Trainor returned to play Spencer, and Nathan Kress revived his role as Carly’s best friend, Freddie. Notably absent was Jennette McCurdy, who played Carly’s sarcastic sidekick Sam in the original series. McCurdy has since carved out a niche for herself in the publishing industry, releasing buzzy memoir “I’m Glad My Mom Died” in 2022, which is now being adapted into a dramedy series for Apple TV+. Jennifer Aniston is slated to play McCurdy’s late mother.

McCurdy also plans to release her debut novel, “Half His Age,” in 2026.

Cosgrove told Barrymore that the movie is meant to pick up where the three-season reboot left off − a massive cliffhanger. The final episode saw Carly and Freddie get engaged, only to be interrupted by her mother, a figure shrouded in mystery throughout the original and reboot shows.

After being canceled by Paramount+, the movie will let the characters come back to finish their story.
